로마노프왕조는 라스푸틴의 저주로 무너지게 되고, 아나스타샤 공주(아냐)는 파리로 가려던 도중 기차를 따라잡지 못해 홀로 남는다.

10년후 그녀는 자신의 정체도 모른 채 고아원에서 나오고, 옛 궁전에서 드미트리와 파트너를 만난다.

​드미트리는 그녀가 아나스타샤 공주라고 주장하고, 아나스타샤는 그들과 함께 파리고 가기로 한다. 

한편 라스푸틴의 그녀가 살아있다는 사실을 알고 죽이려 하지만 번번이 실패한다.

​그 사이 드미트리와 파트너는 아냐에게 왕족의 예절을 가르치고, 드미트리와 아냐는 사랑에 빠진다.

​파리에 간 그들은 아냐의 할머니, 태후를 찾아내지만, 태후는 손녀를 찾을 수 없다고 생각해 모두 거절한다.

아냐 역시 이를 듣고 좌절한다. 그러나 드미트리는 둘을 만나게 하고, 태후와 아냐는 노래 상자의 노래를 따라 부르며 서로를 확인한다.

드미트리는 자신의 역할이 끝났다며 떠나려 했지만 마지막까지 그녀를 죽이려 하는 라스푸틴과 싸운다.

라스푸틴은 도리어 아냐에 의해 소멸하고, 아나스타샤와 드미트리는 행복하게 살게 된다.

드미트리와 파트너 블라드는 처음부터 아냐가 로마노프의 공주라고 확신한 게 아니라 닮은꼴을 찾아 돈을 벌려고 했던 것이었다.
